Transport planning
In the transport planning sector, TRT's expertise covers the formulation of operating plans (Urban traffic plans) as well as strategic schemes (Urban Mobility Plans, Regional transport plans), integrating quantitative modelling tools (MEPLAN model, including the transport module and land-use module, and AIMSUN NG model for microsimulation of traffic demand) with an approach centred on specific local policy needs.
TRT’s skills in addressing complex issues of integrated transport planning, environment and territory are well shown in the support that the company offers to various circles for the evaluation of mobility policies and sector impacts at regional level and territorial projects at wide and local scale.
TRT is also active to promote a positive attitude towards road
safety and support good practices in favour of slow modes drawing up
plans for cycle mobility and plans for improving home-to-work trips.

Transport, energy and environmental policies
TRT Trasporti e Territorio was in charge of this study on behalf
of the Directorate-General for Internal Policies of the European
Commission in order to support European Parliament actions in the
field of transport, energy and environmental policies. The aim of
this study was to identify economic and politically feasible
measures able to significantly enhance energy efficiency and to
reduce negative impacts of transport activities.
Comune di Reggio Emilia
2006
Reggio Emilia urban mobility plan
The strategic land-use model for Urban Mobility Plan of Reggio Emilia was
realised with two main objectives:
a) to estimate the origin/destination matrices of passenger mobility
within the study area (the municipality of Reggio Emilia and other
neighbouring municipalities) for the different future scenarios
representing the alternative policy measures of the Urban Mobility Plan;
b) to provide information on the variations of land use (re-locations of
households and jobs) caused by the different policy alternatives.

Road safety
The study has been realized on behalf of the European Commission
within the framework of the preparation of the European Road Safety
Action Programme 2011-2020.
The objective of the study was twofold:
1. undertaking an ex-post evaluation of the relevant actions of the
current Road Safety Action Programme 2001-2010 (RSAP);
2. carrying out the impact assessment of the new European Road Safety
Action Programme (ERSAP), which will cover the period 2011- 2020.
The coordinator of the research project was Transport & Mobility
Leuven (TML), which was in charge of developing the impact assessment
(Part 2 of the study), while TRT was responsible for drawing up the
Part 1 of the study concerning the ex-post evaluation of the current
RSAP.
