Infrastructures
The expertise of TRT about transport infrastructures is testified by the several projects undertaken for studying both networks and infrastructural nodes.
TRT can provide assistance for a wide range of infrastructure-related issues: feasibility studies, economic and financial assessment, demand analysis and traffic forecasts.
Among the feasibility study TRT has undertaken, a special mention is
deserved by the feasibility study for the new motorway link
projected within the most high densely populated area of Northern
Italy (Milano-Brescia motorway Brebemi), the revision and the update
of traffic forecasts concerning several projected motorways in
Northern Italy: Cremona-Mantova, Modena-Sassuolo, Asti-Cuneo,
Pedemontana Veneta, Cispadana in Emilia Romagna.

Milano-Brescia motorway
The 80 km long, three lanes, tolled A4 motorway link connecting
Milan with Brescia and Bergamo is subject to systematic traffic
congestion and so is the whole road network in this densely
populated region in the north of Italy. In the year 1996, the
Chambers of Commerce of the three provinces (Brescia, Bergamo and
Milan) took the lead of sponsoring investment in the new motorway
link between Brescia and Milano to add up capacity to the road
corridor. Three years later, Brebemi, a company whose shareholders
include banks and main motorways concessionaires, was established
to act as the Promoter of a B.O.T. scheme in adoption of the new
legislation for Public Procurement and Project Financing in Italy.
Since the beginning, TRT provided technical support to the whole
process delivering prefeasibility analysis (1996 - 97), comparison
of different project’s alternatives (1998), support to the
Preliminary Project to be presented at the Ministry of Public
Works (1999 – 2001) and to the Final Project (2008).

Co-ordinating land use plan of Piacenza province
The local authority of Piacenza Province, after the Planning
Conference for the drawing up of the coordinating land use plan (PTCP)
has decided to focus two points concerning the road network. The
tool used for scenarios’ simulation is the transport model
developed by TRT and already used for the first drawing up of the
PTCP. The infrastructural hypothesis have been evaluated in a
middle-term period (2015). The results were analyzed in terms of:
vehicle/km, flow of traffic in each road arch, ratio flow/capacity
of the road arches and the service level, polluting emissions from
vehicular traffic.

Regional road network management
IReR has charged TRT to assess pricing policies for a more efficient
management of the Lombardy road network. In this study the whole network
of Lombardy is modelled and tolls’ policies are evaluate for different
geographical areas and road types. Assessment is done using transport
indicators as well as financial and environmental indicators, comparing
different pricing schemes with the reference solution where nothing
changes.
