TRT has a wide knowledge of the freight and logistics services. The expertise of the company covers the analysis of local markets and specific needs of single firms as well as strategic studies on a wider scale.
From businesses point of view, the importance of logistics results from the role played in business strategies, which are constantly facing new challenges imposed by the market globalization, the fragmentation of flows, the specialization of sectors, the expansion of the tertiary sector and, not least by the stronger requirements on the quality and environmental side. ("Green Logistics"). On the other side, the public sector more and more needs of specific knowledge concerning the logistics process, in order to build planning policies that enable the economic system to work in an integrated and competitive way without resulting harmful for the local territories.
TRT is able to provide a wide range of services to meet the needs of both private companies and the public sector.
Namely: Benchmark analysis of transport demand, costs and fares; Drawing up and development of business plans; Technical and economic feasibility of logistics yards, inter-modal
centres, etc.; Optimisation of the management of logistics flows; Designing and assessment of city logistics measures; Drawing up of planning schemes for the public sector.

International transport costs
TRT Trasporti e Territorio was committed by Bank of Italy to
conduct a survey on the international freight transport in order
to:
i) identify the unit costs of different transport modes for
imports and exports;
ii) identify the components of ancillary costs;
iii) show in a matrix the goods exchange abroad;
iv) define the market share held by Italian actors in the maritime,
air and rail transport sectors;
v) estimate the turnover made by Italian shipowners abroad.
The job follows similar surveys conducted by TRT since 1998, whose
results were used by the Italian Bureau of Exchange to estimate
the Balance of Payments for the corresponding years. The unit
costs of transport were estimated on the basis of a benchmark,
conducted in 2008, and two updates in 2009 and 2010.

Southern Italy - Logistics - China
The Italian Ministry for the Economic Development, Department for
Development and Cohesion Policies, committed TRT Trasporti e
Territorio a study about the opportunities existing for logistics
development in Southern Italy, with specific respect to the
potential rising from trade exchanges with Far East countries
(China and India in particular). The aim of the study was to
identify and prioritise investments and measures to boost the
international exchanges of goods and the demand for logistics in
the South of Italy.

PIVOT
Project
The PIVOT project had as purpose the elaboration of a feasibility study
regarding the implementation of a platform supporting transport and
logistics operators of the province of Varese: location, characterisation
of the structure, distribution of the interior spaces, methods of
management and financial analysis.TRT, which had the direct responsibility
to manage the first phase, developed the intervention: on the one hand,
analysing and measuring the overall demand for freight transport in the
province of Varese, estimating in particular origin and destination of
flows of goods entering and leaving the province; on the other hand,
considering the potential areas of settlement and the precise location of
the platform.
